Cynthia Pierce-Murray (Civilian)

Gender: Female
Hometown: Milpitas, California
Military Status: Veteran
About Me:
Married? Tried it, I'm a single-lifer. I think. I love my cat. I ended up marrying a sailor, Robert Murray and we have a son. We divorced (ugh, that word!) and he's remarried with 4 kids. Our son just got out of the Air Force after his tour of duty. (Abilene, Texas and overseas with the C-130's.)He also was into communications! and navigational equip on the planes. His dad was a jet mechanic for the Blue Angels! Guess we made a good military man!! He's 32 this year. They grow up quick! Not married, no grandchildren. (darn!) I housesit, petsit, plantsit, pickup newspapers and collect mail, do crafts, read, and do beadwork, collect dolls cows, and love flowers. I love yardsales!!

After being Honorably discharged from the US NAVY I became a mainframe computer operator and teletype/telex/western union operator for the federal government, then county government, then private industries. about 20 years worth! Then, I took "driving" jobs: taxi, Laidlaw, Meals on Wheels, Rental Cars being transferred from one airport to another, or their storage centers; then, I tried one month with OSH until tax-free weekend...I was outta there! Then, went back to driving for Yellow Cab, VTA City Bus, and until 2003 Metro City Bus in Santa Cruz. ahhh, what a job...you never felt like you were working because you drove along the beaches all the time. But, it got worse. One day, I was driving and temporarily lost my eyesight, both eyes, so needless to say I'm a liability to them and therefore, have been off on disability since. After years of stuff they found I have PTSD, partly from things that have happened to me in the service and in life. I'm going to the V.A. for my meds and counseling trips. (part of the gig) In my spare time, I drive VETS up to the Monterey VA Clinic through the Red Cross. And, I obviously do other volunteer work for the Red Cross. Just kicking back mainly. Enjoying the beaches.
