Herlong HS Class of 60 Grad, Student Body Pres 59/60. Nursery ~High School(14 yrs) at Herlong. Born in Orange, Ca 11/13/41. I and my parents&g-parents came to Hackstaff/Sierra Army(ORD) Depot/ Herlong(I was 3 mo old) in Feb 42(after the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor), they helped build Herlong. Lived at 804-6 Washoe st/1012-14 Sierra Dr/ 3031-32 Ramsey Dr, Title#8/ Harwood Ranch US 395, Milford/122 Tamarack, Title#9/ Pioneer Ln, Sage Valley(Oki Flats) and Mello Apts during the 40's thru the 70's. Gene's b-day Nov 13; Jan's b-day Sept 8 . My dad owned and drove Hardtops(racecar)#'s 50/50,111&5X during the 1950's. I got my first job in Herlong as a WG-1, Janitor and retired from Civil Svc, as a Supervisory GM-13, in Jan of 87 with 26+yrs service; after assignments in Herlong(3ea), Japan, Hawaii, Okinawa, Fort Huachuca, Az and Picatinny Arsenal, NJ. I also spent 4 yrs in the USAF(SAC) as an A/C Crash Rescue Firefighter(57150)at Schilling AFB(310th CES), Ks(62-63) and Andersen AFB(3960th CES), Guam, MI(63-65). I was Elected 4 times as a Huachuca City, Az-Councilman. Gene&Jan(Troxell) were married in 03/22/85. Jan has 4 boys and 6 g-children.Jan was in Ja at Cp Drake/Grant Heights, 54-55. Gene was at Sagami Depot,Ja 67-69 and Okinawa MSA, Ja 73-76. Gene&Neil's(Mike)Parents were Mary(Maria Wirachowsky)&Earl V McCullough; their g-parents were Glen&Myrtle(Blake) McCullough; their Aunt&uncle were Jo-Ann(Connacher)&Leo Wirachowsky.
My High School Class, the Class of 1960, had its 10th, 20th, 40th, 42nd, 44th and 50th reunions in Reno, Nev and all were a great success.
I retired(with 26 yrs and 2 mo service) in 1987 from Federal Civil Service, Dept of the Army(I started as a WG-1 Janitor and retired as a GM-13 Supervisory Management Analyst).
On 8 Mar 2011 I won election/ re-election to my City Council, for the fourth time and was appointed Commissioner of Finance and Senior Citizens Center Commissioner.
