Posted by Tom Shipley on 06/19/2014 3:29pm I just came across your post. I graduated Boot PLT1162 MCRD 11-05-69 and went to 2nd ITR and BITS in late 69. After BITS , as a Lance Corporal, I supervised Marines at "Fire Base Maintenance " up on the hill. We called your Mess Hall: The Colonels' Mess !!!! The Food was great and You served Pancakes one day and French Toast the next ! Eggs fried with broken yokes (the way I like them) were at the end of the Chow Line with an all you can eat sign.! For years now, I have said that was the best I ate in my life : That includes plenty of travel for a Fortune 5 Company ! At any rate we now Celebrate Colonels Mess on Sundays at our house !, the kids know the story and grandsons are learning. PS: I went by the building in 2006 and it was a GYM ! Thank You for your Service and what you did.!! |
