Swink, Sherman G. Military medals and patches, dog tag #RA6396566. as well as US FLAG (used to drape casket?) located in a box bought at auction. I do not know his family, but honor him regularly. Any suggustions on how to connect with family would be appreciated.

How touching that you held on to that box... I did a cursory search for the name on a few internet sites and came up with this: (copy the link into your browser) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=21351445 That is a photo of a gravesite for a Sherman Goodwin Swink from Ohio buried at a place called US Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery below is a link to the information about the cemetary. What I would do is write to the cemetary or call and ask if they have anything about next of kin in his file/record there. If at the very least, maybe they could bury the box with him (assuming he is the same soldier) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&GRid=21351445&CRid=640526& Hope any of this helps... my email is tamaradawn@gmail.com ~Tamara

Hi Kathy, Hope you've had better luck than I have had tring to locate relatives. I even went through newspaperarchives and could'nt find anything. But I see you have visited his virtual memorial in findagrave, I have memorials on there of all my Family. It gives me a good feeling to visit them. It does apear that you have become the only keeper of his military medals and patches ect. Sorry I count find more, but I really tried. Best of luck to you. Tina Cook

try contacting the nearest V.A. Medical Center. Ask for a service officer. Amer. Legion, Vietnam Vets etc.
