Posted by Wesley Melvin on 06/09/2002 3:24pm Clarke County (LST-601) Sunday June 9th. 2002 My name is Wesley Melvin. I saw your lost & found notice. I was in country for two years. I was on three LSTs in V.N. The last one was for the longest time about a year. The USS Garrett County LST-786 But I am not sure about the names of the others. It has been so long. The Clark county - 601 sounds like one of them, just not sure. You see I was assigned to the River Patrol Boats ( PBR ) We worked on them down on the tank deck. I was on the Mecong Delta river. A Coast guard cutter stayed on the river a mile or two from us I remember them just setting there. I can look back on my paper work and see if I was on the Clark. I looked the number of it up for you - LST-601 Contact me if you will. Read you later. In country V.N. from 67 to 70 Wesley Melvin 6335 Alamo Place Nashville Tn. 37209 wam.it@Comcast.net |
