His name is Martin Egan. (Not sure if Martin is first name or middle). My mother was a waitress in Saigon in 1972, in a small cafe where the soldiers in from R&R used to hang out. She met him then... My mother recalled his friends calling him Sgt. And she is 99% sure that his first name was Martin. He used to laugh at her because she couldn't pronounce it. She would call him "Mahteen", and he would gently correct her english. One day she said she called him "Marty", and he told her to call her Martin, he didn't like Marty too much, it made him seem too young (lol). Although I would also consider it might be a middle name (?), or nickname...hmmmmm I feel so bad, because so many people are taking precious moments out of their day to help me research, and I cannot gather his SS#, his correct last name, not even his home of record. I only have this: Sgt. first name Martin Brown/Blonde hair green/hazel eyes medium build, around 5'10 to 6 ft tall soft spoken, quiet Marines infantry OR Army unit was in Cam Ranh in 1973 last time in Saigon was March/April 1973 was def. in Saigon in 1971, 1972 I am so sorry that I was unable to gather anymore, and please know from the bottom of my heart how appreciative I am. If the search ends here, so be it. I am so fortunate to have the memory of my father as a good man, and he must have been an amazing man to still have an impact on my 54 year old mother. When she talked of him, she sounded like the young girl in Vietnam that she was. She has no bitterness, no regret, only pride when she talks about my father. I am so honored to be his daughter.....
