Michael Priest (Navy)
Gender: Male
Marital Status: married
Hometown: Pleasant Shade, Tennessee
Military Status: Veteran
Military Branch: Navy
Military Rank: E-4
About Me:
Hello, my name is Michael Priest and I served in the US Navy from 1968-1972. I was part of the VAW-111 Det 31 squad. I arrived on the US Oriskany while she was in mid-cruise of her WESTPAC deployment.
I took a flight from Manila and arrived in DaNang in June or July 1970. After sleeping on my sea bag for four days, I finally was able to catch a MAIL COD to join the crew. (I feel lucky that I got to have a carrier landing, boy what a rush!) I currently have a disability case that is on appeal with the VA for Type II Diabetes Mellitus. Since my filing, I have also developed neuropathy of the upper and lower extremities as well as diabetic retinopathy.
I am in need of testimony from fellow Navy personnel that would support my "set foot" status. I am asking anyone that has had a similar "transportation experience" for reporting to duty, to please contact me as I certainly need your help.
Thanking you in advance,
Michael S Priest
