Nike Hercules circa 1959--1975. Primaraly a Air Defense weapon to knock down high altitude bombers, but also had Surface to Surface capabilities with a Nuclear capabilitiy. The orange marker on the ground is a surveyed impact point that was enterted into the systems computer. This target was 35 miles away from launch point. The systems effective range was 100 miles. We were testing system accuracy and HE damage to ground targets. At 100 miles the average miss distance was 10 meters. Comment for: incoming 1 » View
