Brooks Steve (Air Force)
Gender: Male
Marital Status: married
Birthday: 1947
Hometown: South Burlington, Vermont
Military Status: Veteran
Military Branch: Air Force
Military Rank: E-5
About Me:
Joined USAF October 6, 1966. Basic training at Lackland, AFB, Texas. Long, very long bus ride to Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX for technical training. I can't remember the official job title, but it was teletype and cryptographic equipment installation and repair.
First assignment was to Cigli AFB, just outside of Izmir, Turkey. Turned out to be a great assignment. Hard work, old beaten down equipment, but loved Turkey. Izmir was a fraction of its current size and I explored every nook and cranny.
After Cigli, I was stationed at westover AFB, Massachusetts, then a very active SAC base with B52s and 24/7 flying Command Post aircraft.
Discharged fall of 1970 as Staff Sargent. Went directly to college...literally... back in Vermont.
