John Hankins (Civilian)
Gender: Male
Military Status: Veteran
About Me:
Married with four grown children and two grandsons. Hobbies now consist of writing and speaking tours to promote creative works. Wisdom dictated I give up flying which I loved, and ear surgery to correct a service connected hearing loss (which was successful) prevents me from SCUBA diving activities butnot snorkeling. Miss my home in Hawaii where I was raised; especially the nice evening breezes and soft rain which lullls ones into a delightful coma. Though born in California after my mother visit to mainland U.S. I grew up in Hawaii and ever since then have traveled far and wide, without any inclination (except for Hawaii) to claim any place as home.
Retired Hospital Consultant/Administator with extensive world-wide service both in the military and civilian life. Besides performing some hospital consulting work, have formed on self-publishing entity. Four books on different subjects now available for view on www.wbcoa.com, or on amazon.com, borders.com barnesandnoble.com, Ingrams, etc. Started service at 16 with Merchant Marine in Pacific then the US Army for eight years until transter to USAF 8 years later, going from seaman, private, sgt, than to commissioned ranks after regaining loss years of education with finally led to MHA degree, etc. Long haul but well worth it. Thanks to the GI bill and great supervisors who supported my efforts during those trying years.
