Enlisted U.S.A.F. in 1955. Assigned duty as ParaRescue Technician. Medically retired in 1964 due to injuries received in parachute jump. Joined Pittsburgh Police Department in 1964. Worked Uniform Division for five years. Transferred to Detective Division and served with Organized Crime Branch and Homicide Division. Retired with rank of Detective in 1986.
