Bud,
I was at RAF Fairford in 55 to 58, but after a year back in the States at Offutt AFB, NE I got back to RAF Greenham Common in June 1959 to July 1962. I just returned from a vacation in the UK and visited Fairford it is still open but a housekeeping crew 150 there permanent party it is a standby base. Greenham Common is closed down and the old buildings including the hangers are used by local contractors. The runway is gone was torn up years ago and word is that housing will be built on those old runway grounds so that the Ministry of Defense there would not be able to open the base again. What recollections of the base do you have, and I would think that you were there TDY am I right? It was the 3909th ABGroup when I was there 59 to 62 and beyond....My email is LetsFlyAway69@aol.com if you wish to correspond.....Dave Lawlor/AF Retired/AZ
